During my stay on Rodrigues, "Murphy" has visit me for the 1st time (within 10years) ... a power problem destroyed my power supply ... so I was looking a long time for a new one ... 2(!!) days later I find the only possible power supply ... It was a battery charger ... together with JOSE (from maintance at Cotton Bay) we find a old car battery too ... now 3B9MM was again on air (with some chirps ...but QRV)
In case of very low weight limit (15kg(!!)) at the
flight from 3B8 to 3B9 I go back to the roots
of amateur radio equipment. The only hightech was the best (portable) tranceiver right
now: FT847
Antenna was a wire "only" together with a 10m fiberglas mast. So I was working with 60W (reduced power .. see above) and a "L-Antenna" and "Inverted-Slooped V". With this simple equipment ALL continents are in the log INCLUDE some USA-Westcoast on 30 and 40m band. WOW!!
I've finished with 3132 QSOs, mostly on 12, 30 and 40m in CW.
Many thanks to the complete team of HOTEL COTTON BAY to make this MISSION a success. I'm sure, we'll see us again ...
If some of you are going to "Cotton Bay" for holiday... please give them a handshake from me (Mart Moebius)!
QSO continent statist.: EU=67% - AS=25% - NA=5%
